Community and Housing
Housing empowerment and resources that directly support local communities
Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. has provided safe, affordable, accessible housing and housing services for tens of thousands of Colorado's low-income, elderly and disabled residents for over fifty years. Brothers truly understands and seeks to exceed return on investment for organizations who support them. A home is often the most important way to bring and keep a family together. For over forty-five seasons and over one million volunteers, Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. has held Paint-A-Thons, a volunteer program that provides free house painting for homeowners. We annually gather Paint-a-Thon volunteers for a day of painting and community. As one of our first partner non-profits, the Hayes Family Foundation has supported Brothers Redevelopment for over ten years!
President of the Board, Dick Hayes, has been in integral part of the Adelante Foundation since its founding and in 2021 was awarded the Adelante Ally Award. Like Adelante, he believes in the power of opportunity. Founded in 2000 in La Ceiba, Honduras, Adelante’s mission is to empower enterprising women in rural Honduras to achieve economic self-sufficiency. In addition to capital, Adelante offers an integrated microfinance-business development education model. Dick’s grandson visited Honduras in 2017 where he learned the Adelante core values of unity, discipline, hard work, and courage. In 2024, his granddaughter visited Honduras and met the local Adelante staff, learned about microfinance onsite, and met Adelante clients at their place of business. Seeing Adelante in action is the most powerful way to understand the ongoing and sustainable impact.
Board member Elisabeth Cook grew up with her father Charles "Tony" Cook working with Open Door Ministries and highly values their compassion and mission. Executive Director, David Warren, remembers working with Tony for many years and fondly recalls him as a wonderful man. Elisabeth specifically supports Te Veo House because it is a place for people “to rest,” which is critical and could be a factor to drive future success. Open Door Ministries and the Te Veo House provide women a safe and secure place to live as they seek healing and permanent housing in Denver. Residents experience rest, safety, love, and support. Women experience immediate community living with 9-15 other women and staff, as well as an integrated community of 18 programs with dozens of staff, hundreds of neighbors, volunteers, partners, and thousands of participants.
